Title: Controller (fully remote opportunity)
Summary:
The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting standards, managing the audit with Public Accounting firm, overseeing the proper GAAP compliance and accounting integration of acquired companies, managing consolidation for our US and international companies, financial reporting and strategically growing the accounting team in a rapidly changing and growing environment. The Corporate Controller is also responsible for overseeing tax compliance (with Public Accounting firm) and managing the insurance renewal process. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with a background in software and a proven track record of operating in a fast-paced environment. This position will also manage a team and participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
 
Responsibilities:
As a member of our growing team, the Corporate Controller’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Financial Close and Consolidation: lead and streamline the close process including manage the consolidation process for multiple US and international subsidiaries, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in accordance with GAAP, ensuring proper internal controls
  • M&A: Ensure GAAP compliance and the successful accounting integration in Netsuite post-merger
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition, maintaining policy documentation and be the go-to for revenue recognition questions for software sales
  • Financial Reporting: oversee the preparation of monthly financial reporting package and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including meeting the deadline for debt reporting
  • Accounting Policies, Procedures and Controls: develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency
  • Audit: own the relationship with external auditors and oversee successful and timely audit.
  • Compliance: ensure compliance with all relevant US and international financial regulations and standards
  • Tax: oversee timely and accurate tax return preparation by external tax team, collaborate with international tax advisors to optimize the company’s tax strategies, and ensuring compliance with tax laws in various jurisdictions.
  • Team Leadership: build, oversee, motivate and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement, and define responsibilities across the function to ensure clarity of roles and paths for future career development.
  • Technical Accounting: Oversee and review all technical accounting done internally and externally (Business combinations, Revenue Recognition, Stock Compensation, etc.)
  • Revenue recognition: maintaining policy documentation and be the go-to for revenue recognition questions for software sales
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: collaborate with the finance function to develop annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts for the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Cash Flow: Collaboration: work cross-functionally and be a well-regarded thought-leader working to achieve
  • ERP: Oversee the implementation of new finance and accounting systems, with a focus on making continuous improvements for scale and growth.
  • Team: Manage 4 direct reports and oversee offshore accounting consultant team

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive finance & accounting experience, including at least 3-5 years in a managerial role
  • CPA license, with a strong understanding of GAAP
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • Private Equity backed company experience preferred
  • Experience with consolidations, foreign subsidiaries and multiple entities is required
  • Netsuite experience preferred
  • Experience with financial process improvement, including process design and implementing best-in-class tools, is highly desired
  • Experience with acquisitions, including integration of acquired companies and related accounting principles is highly desired
